Tom Dwan was born in 1986 in Edison, New Jersey, and discovered online poker at 17. Under the screen name "durrrr," he turned a modest initial deposit into millions, and by his early twenties was regularly playing the biggest games on Full Tilt Poker against the most feared players in the world. His rise was as fast as anything online poker has ever seen.

Dwan's style was unlike anything most players had encountered. Hyper-aggressive, capable of four-betting with a seemingly impossible range of hands, and possessing the composure to run enormous bluffs without flinching, he forced the other top players to rethink their game. His appearances on High Stakes Poker — the legendary television cash game — introduced him to a mass audience and produced some of the most iconic moments in poker broadcasting history.

In 2009, Dwan issued the "durrrr Challenge" — a $1.5 million side-bet proposition to play 50,000 hands of heads-up poker against Patrik Antonius, confident in his own edge. The match began but was never completed. He has since become a fixture in the biggest live games in Macau and at Triton Poker events, where he continues to play for life-changing sums.
