HISTORY
Career & origins of Patrick Antonius
Patrick Antonius is the Finnish high-stakes legend who was among the most feared online and live players during the poker boom era of the late 2000s. With a background that included professional tennis as a teenager, he brought exceptional athleticism and competitive drive to the poker table and became one of the defining figures of the Full Tilt Poker era.
His battles against Isildur1 (Viktor Blom) in 2009 produced some of the largest and most dramatic pots in online poker history — swings of millions of dollars in single sessions that left the poker world stunned. He was also a frequent opponent and challenger for Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, and the other legends of that era.
Though the online poker landscape has changed dramatically since his prime, Antonius remains a respected presence at major live events and continues to be recognized as one of the most naturally talented players of his generation.
