HISTORY
Career & origins of Dan Harrington
Dan Harrington — "Action Dan," an ironic nickname earned for his tight, disciplined style — is one of the most decorated champions in WSOP history and one of the game's most important educators. He won the WSOP Main Event in 1995 and made the final table again in 2004, demonstrating a longevity and consistency that only a handful of players have matched.
His Harrington on Hold'em book series — published in the mid-2000s during the poker boom — taught a generation of new players the fundamentals of no-limit tournament poker. The books' systematic approach to stack sizes, push/fold ranges, and tournament dynamics gave millions of readers a framework for thinking about the game that had previously only been available through direct coaching or expensive trial and error.
A Poker Hall of Famer, Harrington's dual legacy — as a champion and as an educator — places him among the most complete contributors to poker's development as a game and a community.
